Summary:
The Patient Benefit and Finance Specialist is accountable for assisting patients (primarily returning oncology) and caregivers by delivering a true advocacy experience that focuses on delivering clear and accurate information about each patient's financial obligations and quoted insurance benefits in a responsive and proactive manner.
This role will provide patient assistance through outside organizations, in patient and outpatient financial counseling, and Stem Cell Transplant financial counseling.
The Sr.
Rep will work closely with the in-patient clinics, Financial Counselors, Care Management, Guest Services, Stem Cell Transplant unit and Travel and Accommodation Representatives to ensure patient financial concerns and questions are addressed throughout their in-patient stay.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum of associate degree in business, healthcare or equivalent is desired; otherwise, a minimum 6 years' experience in hospital admissions/patient access, registration, business office, financial counseling and/or insurance related field.
2-year minimum experience in financial counseling process, patient assistance programs, verification of benefits and charity care qualification.
Must have experience with Microsoft Outlook, basic computer skills, and basic office equipment.
Additional Skills and
Experience:
Ability to read and understand insurance terminology, insurance coverage quotes and the ability to understand and calculate reimbursement percentages, in-depth knowledge of insurance requirements needed, and understanding of out of network payers, secondary networks, non-local, national insurances.
Self-starter with exemplary attendance record, strong analytical/organizational skills, professional demeanor, and appearance.
In-depth knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements, insurance company requirements, Medicare, and Medicaid.
In-depth knowledge of HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, Patient Rights, Compliance, privacy, and security laws, EMTALA and all hospital policies.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with patients, caregivers, insurance plan representatives, outside assistance organizations and hospital leadership.
Medical Terminology use and understanding is required, CPT/ICD9 Coding is preferred.
Pay Range $20.
35 - $33.
