Student Data Specialist

Job Title: Student Data Specialist
Department: Technology
Reports To: Director of Technology Services
Classification: Classified, Non-Exempt
Terms: 12-Month Position
Assists in the day-to-day data management of the District's Technology Department as well as manage the District's student database; provides complex technical support; provides courteous and professional service to all customers; performs other duties as required. He/She shall observe all district policies appropriate to this position and except the responsibility of assigned tasks.
Responsible for entering new student data into State Student Information System (SIS), PowerSchool and district spreadsheet
Assists school secretaries and to ensure that student data and records are current and updated regularly
Update student data placements for current year in PowerSchool and State Student Information System (SIS)
Responsible for quarterly student monitoring letters.
Maintain database of all exited students with data from monitoring letters, consents, refusals, and re-enrollments.
Assists in the coordination, preparation, and documentation of professional development activities for the Tech Department;
Assists with PARCC-related meetings
Serve as a resource to support staff inquiries on PowerSchool and State Student Information System (SIS);
Perform reporting and coordinating updated information as it relates to Federal requirements and State Student Information System (SIS);
Perform drops/adds, importing and exporting using PowerSchool and State Student Information System (SIS);
Develop manage, and revise as necessary data systems and procedures;
Coordinate with Secretaries and department heads to input student; information consistently and accurately;
Develop reports and minor customizations;
Other duties as assigned
High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
Sufficient experience to successfully perform the duties of the Student Data Specialist (experience with database systems is a plus)
Strong computer software skills are required
Ability To:
Troubleshoot data discrepancies
Communicate effectively (both oral and written)
Work independently and apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions
Maintain confidentiality in performance of work
Respond quickly, multitask and meet deadlines
Maintain accuracy and be attentive to detail
Exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority
Working Conditions:
Environment: School office environment; constant interruptions
Physical Abilities: Sitting for extended periods of time; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; reaching overhead, above shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist and kneeling or crouching to retrieve files from cabinets and shelves; hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or by telephone; seeing to read various documents related to assigned activities; lifting light objects.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
