Position Description:
The R&D Chemist is responsible for all steps of formula development from ideation to final formulation. Primary responsibilities will be the innovation of new products, technology transfer and cost savings. Candidate will be expected to demonstrate formulation and innovation skills.

  • Develop new innovative marketable products, revise/reformulate existing formulas and break down/ reverse engineer competitive products.

  • Responsibilities include all as all aspects of development from stability to full production scale up.

  • Initiate, develop and create innovative products to expand the R&D formulation library and enhance customer's presentations.

  • Write, review and approve production batch procedures and monitor pilots and scale up batches. Develop, complete, and document lab projects

  • Research and initiate R&D cost savings to meet yearly goals.

  • Special Projects and independent Research

  • Work with QC to help trouble shooting production batches.

  • Other responsibilities include research of raw materials, vendor management, stability testing/evaluation and product presentations.

  • Formulation Chemists will be managing the development of multiple products simultaneously and should be comfortable in a fast-paced multi-tasking environment.

  • Find and approve new and alternate raw materials

  • Provide technical assistance to Manufacturing as requested

  • Provide technical assistance to customers and sales staff

  • Recommend products to customers

  • Follow up samples sent to customers

  • Improve current Ivanhoe defoamers

  • Special testing of R&D and competitive samples

  • Cleaning and maintenance of lab equipment and areas

  • Prepare and update Technical Data Sheets and SDS's

  • Answer customer regulatory concerns.

  • Submit products for regulatory approvals, maintain these approvals: NSD, FDA, CFIA, Health Canada, DfE, Washington State Organic


  • 1-3 years in formulation/product development or related field

  • Must have BS or MS in Chemistry or related degree.

  • Must be familiar with all basic lab equipment including FTIR, viscometer, pH meter and Moisture Analyzer.

  • Must be PC literate and literate in Excel, Word and Power point, etc.?

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Someone with specific experience in formulating foam control agents or the synthesis of fatty acid esters.?

  • Typically, a candidate would have experience in one or the other.?

  • At this point, we would be most interested in a chemist that has experience in the synthesis of fatty acid esters.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
